Performance & Optimization

  • Asynchronous execution: Queries run non-blocking via vim.system; track active and past jobs in real time with :TDJ.
  • Result limits (retlimit): Use retlimit (default 100) to cap returned rows and reduce UI rendering overhead. Very large exports (> 10k rows) are supported but prefer TPT or offline exports for bulk extraction.
  • Timeout control (timeout_ms): Set timeout_ms to automatically cancel long-running BTEQ jobs and prevent orphaned processes.
  • Catalog filtering (filter_db): Use filter_db to filter which databases are imported during :TDSync. On enterprise systems with thousands of schemas, this drastically reduces sync duration and memory usage.
  • History pruning (history_max): Use history_max to cap stored queries and result sets on disk.
